A tempered glass protector reduces fingerprints and scratches. Choose by the screen your car actually has: Tesla uses different screen sizes, corner radii and bezels across generations, and the model year on its own will not tell you which one you have.
Which screen your car has
The Model 3 and Model Y have used three center screen sizes. The size is the only thing that decides which protector fits, so go by the screen in front of you rather than the trim, the model year or the market you bought in. Model S, Model X and Cybertruck use different screens and are not covered here.

Tesla changed the Model Y center screen part way through the generation rather than at a model-year boundary, and the size still varies by trim and by market, so cars sold as the same model year exist with both the 15.4 inch and the 16 inch screen. A 16 inch cut does not fit a 15.4 inch screen or the other way round, and neither the year nor the trim name will settle it. The two are only about 15 mm apart on the diagonal, so measure rather than guess: measure the lit picture itself, corner to corner, ignoring the black surround. Roughly 391 mm is the 15.4 inch screen and roughly 406 mm is the 16 inch one.
The 15.4 inch and 16 inch kits also include a piece for the 8 inch screen behind the console. Whether your car has that screen depends on its trim and market, and it does not change which front protector you need - if your car does without one, you simply have a spare piece. The 15 inch cars have no rear screen at all.

Common questions
Are the 15 inch and 15.4 inch screens interchangeable for protectors?
No. The refreshed screens are not just larger: the corner radius and bezel changed, so a protector cut for a 2023 car sits wrong on a 2024 one. The product card has a button for each of the three sizes, including a separate 16 inch option.
Matte or glossy?
Matte diffuses sun glare and hides fingerprints, with a slight softening of contrast. Glossy keeps factory sharpness but shows fingerprints and reflections.
Does a tempered glass protector affect touch response?
Tesla advises against fitting one. The owner's manual warns that a screen protector can cause unintended touches, delayed or unresponsive input, and electrostatic discharge that damages the screen, and states that damage caused by installing one is not covered by the warranty. Plenty of owners fit them anyway and report normal use, but that is the trade you are making, so read Tesla's warning first.
Any tips for a clean install?
Close the doors and turn HVAC off so dust settles. Tesla says to clean the screen with a soft lint-free display cloth and not to use wet wipes or alcohol solvents on it, so turn on Screen Clean Mode and use the cloth rather than the alcohol wipe in the box. Lift any remaining dust with the sticker, align from one edge, then press out from the center. Use the squeegee on bubbles; lift and re-sticker specks.
