Lucid charging adapters: Air and Gravity go opposite directions

By ReferCharge. Updated 2026-08-18.

Air has a J1772 and CCS1 inlet, so it needs NACS-to-CCS1 for Superchargers. Gravity has a native NACS inlet, so it needs CCS1-to-NACS for CCS fast chargers and J1772-to-NACS for legacy AC posts.

Start with the vehicle

AIR

CCS1 vehicle inlet

  • J1772 AC plugs connect directly at home and at public Level 2 stations.
  • NACS DC fast charging needs a NACS-to-CCS1 adapter.
  • Magic Dock sites supply the CCS connection at the stall.

GRAVITY

Native NACS vehicle inlet

  • NACS AC and compatible Superchargers connect directly.
  • CCS1 DC and J1772 AC each need a different adapter direction.
  • Never interchange the AC and DC adapters.

Lucid documents both inlet layouts in its guides for Air and Gravity.

Read Lucid's warning before shopping

Lucid says using the wrong adapter "could pose a safety risk, void your vehicle's warranty, and even damage your vehicle's charging system." That warning appears in Lucid's Air charging guidance. Lucid's $220 part is therefore the safe default, even though owners actively discuss lower-cost choices.

What owners are actually considering

  • Lectron is the first third-party name raised in the owner alternative thread.
  • A2Z Typhoon Pro is also mentioned and its maker lists Lucid among compatible vehicles.
  • Neither third-party choice removes Lucid's 50 kW Air limit on a 500V Supercharger cabinet.

Read the owner discussion and A2Z's fitment listing before deciding.

Air adapter options

We do not own a Lucid, so nothing below is a hands-on review. Each pick is checked for fitment against the maker's own listed compatibility, and we say plainly where owners report problems or where Lucid's own part is the safer choice.

Air first choice

The safe default for every Air. Lucid lists it for all Air models and rates it for NACS DC fast charging only.

Lectron Vortex Plus NACS to CCS1 Adapter

Third-party caveat

A lower-cost Air option discussed by owners. Its maker lists 500A, 1,000V and a mechanical interlock, but Lucid's warranty warning still applies.

A2Z Typhoon Pro NACS to CCS1 Adapter

Owner alternative

Another Air option named in owner discussions. A2Z lists Lucid compatibility, but it remains a third-party choice under the same warranty caveat.

Gravity: check before ordering another adapter

Lucid's Gravity press material says CCS1-to-NACS and J1772-to-NACS adapters are included on all trims. Lucid also sells both parts separately. Check your own vehicle and order contents before buying a duplicate. See the Gravity charging release and the current Gravity store listing.
